Mac OS X Lion, New MacBook Air and iLife '11

It's finally here, Mac OS X Lion, supposedly the "most advanced operating system in the world" is now here with more features, many stripped straight from iOS with iPhone and iPad.

New features include:
-"Mission Control" which gives you a complete overview of your computer, with all virtual desktops and windows all visible all at once.
-"Launchpad" which is like the view on an iPad or iPhone, it views all the apps installed on the computer and allows you to create folders and move stuff around in the fashion of iOS.
-"Mac App Store" I can just see problems beginning to rise with this, anyways, the Mac now has a brand new Mac App Store that will be similar to that on iPad and iPhone except you buy apps for the Mac.
-"Full Screen Apps" programs and apps will now be able to run full-screen
-"AutoSave" programs and apps will now auto-save
-"FaceTime" Macs are now allowed to FaceTime with iPhones, iPod Touches and other Macs.

And "heaps" more features according to Apple.

The Mac OS X Lion is said to come out in Summer 2011

More info on Mac OS X Lion here.

MacBook Air

The new MacBook air has no spinning parts, no hard drive, its all flash memory.
The flash memory isn't enclosed in a hard-drive-like case either, it's built onto the computer chip inside it.

It's available NOW in these sizes:
11 Inch 64GB
11 Inch 128GB

11 Inch 128GB
11 Inch 256GB

You can get more info on the MacBook Air here

By the way video tricks have been delayed due to video malfunctions, the program I use isn't making the videos the right size.

Anyways they should be up as soon as possible.

iPad - A 'magical' and 'revolutionary' device at a an 'unbelievable' price.

The iPad has been out for a few weeks in Australia now, about a month or two in America.
Apple's latest product, the iPad, Is a whole 'new type of device.'

"Think of your iPod Touch, imagined it stretched till its about the size of an A4 sheet of paper. There we go." This is everybody else's main opinion.  To a degree, I agree with them, it doesn't really have that much that sets it aside from the iPhone and iPod Touch.

It is however, aside the features, amazing to use.
iBooks is large and, well, works the way you expect it too, but navigating around the menus, surfing the web and checking email is as Apple would say the "best" way.
It is an amazing device to use, Apple hasn't stuffed up, just missed out a few things.

These few things iHope they add to the next generation iPad.
Here's my suggestions:

Now the iPad is meant to be a new category of device, cross between a MacBook and an iPhone.
Here's the biggy, both the MacBook, and the iPhone HAVE A CAMERA!!!
So why the flip didn't they incorporate this in the iPad?
I don't consider that a cross between!

Secondly, it has the looks of an iPhone, the OS of an iPhone, I see no MacBook here.
I mean it has Calendar, Contacts, Email and Safari, but the iPhone has that.
The only thing the iPad has simliar to the MacBook is that it has Pages, Keynote and Numbers.
This is not a cross between, the only difference between this and an iPod Touch is a better user experience, and 3 more apps available to download.

Here's a list of suggestions that I think should be in the next iPad.

1. CAMERA
2. SD card slot (I know they added an adapter, but I don't want to carry an adapter round with me!)
3. USB slot
4. More PhotoFrame mode transitions
5. Projector/Monitor port (Yes they have an adapter for this too! But I don't want an extra thing to forget, I just wanna grab my iPad on the go!)
6. Music controls built onto the side of the device (Like play, pause, next, back)
7. DVD/CD Drive/Player (Yes!!! I'm being serious)

What do you think? Add more suggestions in the comments boxy!

I sent a feedback form into Apple saying the above list, wonder if they'll incorporate them in the next iPad...

Because at the moment,

The iPad isn't that 'Magical'
Like the iPhone and iPod Touch, so it's not 'Revolutionary'
And I don't know about you, but I don't call $800 an 'Unbelievable' price.

Ben out.

New Tricks Coming Soon!

Okay!

Coming soon to iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano (Possibly) are brand new tricks.

For the iPhone and iPod Touch:

iPodScare : Like the scare trick for iPod Nano, except better, tell your friend to watch the screen as you unlock your iPod/iPhone, once unlocked BLAM!!!! Scary face, loud noise, one reaction.

SliderCrack: Imagine going to unlock your iPhone and the small slider box cracks and breaks into pieces, leaving you with an locked iPhone, and no chance of a unlock.

CountDown: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Boom. A countdown is on the screen with a ticking sound, when the timer runs out the home screen goes into terror, the icons on the screen fall and explode. Ouch.

For iPod Shuffle:

LoudSoft: "Listen to this," you say to your friend. He/She listens to the 'song.' Little do they know the volume control is off the top, the song goes really quiet for along time, then insanely loud for a startling, ear plug-pull outing effect.

HighPitched: Your friend sticks in the headphones, up full boar, listening to what seems to be an ordinary song, then EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, an incredibly high-pitched ear piercing ring goes screaming into your ears. WARNING, CAN RUIN YOUR EARS AND YOUR HEADPHONES.

For iPod Nano:

CountDown: iPod Nano Countdown, a countdown is on the screen, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 BOOM. The iPod Screen appears to crack and an explosion pulls the screen down.

These are coming shortly!
The iPod Scare and CountDown tricks for iPhone and iPod Touch will also be available for the iPhone 4 OS user interface version.

iPhone OS 4!!!

Apple announced the other day that iPhone operating system number 4 is on the way this summer in America. (Which is April/May/June/July in Australia)

The new iPhone OS will be downloadable and will work fully on iPhone 3GS and 3rd Generation iPod Touches.
It will also work partially on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G.

They say there are 100+ new features that iPhone OS 4 is bringing to the Smartfonery, But they only told us 7 at the Apple event on Thursday (Friday Australian.)

Heres a few of the main features that are coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch.

First is Multitasking, you can run heaps of apps in the background and instantly flick between them by double clicking the home button at any point in time.
You will be taken to the exact spot you left off in the app.

The pity is that all us iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G and below users will not have this feature because the hardware isn't good enough.

Next main one is Folders, which is a way of arranging apps, cleaning up space, and giving more room of app downloaders like me.
Each folder can be named and can contain up to 9 apps.
Originally 11 pages of apps allows you to have 180 applications, if you were to replace each of them with folders you could have up to 2160 applications.
Which yeah, is really only useful if you have a 32-64GB device.

iBooks . . . yeah thats right, the application that totally ripped off 'Classics' idea of bookshelves and ebooks has come from iPad to iPhone.
This eBook reader will feature the iBookstore and a free copy of Winnie the Pooh to get you started . . .

New mail, woot . . . a unified mailbox is now available, so instead of having to flick through all your email accounts to check your mail, it does it all in one.
That and other features . . .

Apple also said a few others like Enterprise features for companies and iAd,
Obviously Apple saw all these companies like AdMob bennifitting from THEIR product, and they didn't like it . . . so they've made iAd, where Apple get more money, the ads are more interactive, cooler and don't yank you from your app when you click one.
So basically Apple are getting rid of Ad Supplying competition . . .

The other cool thing . . . NEW CUSTOMIZATION!!!

Jailbreakers have been laughing at 'stationary noobs' because of the customization, well, that and illegal downloading of apps . . . anyways.

To your left is a picture of the new homescreen, not jailbroken, this is the real deal. The dock at the bottom is different, matches the iPad more, or the dock on Mac OS X 10,
Also the wallpaper, WHICH, is customizable, you can select different wallpapers for both the homescreen and the lockscreen.

Personally I can't wait til it comes out.

Sad thing is iPod Touch users will probably have to pay $10 for the upgrade like last time . . .
